how effective was your story board?
did you diverge from it? if so why?
what criticism did you get?
did you find it useful to develop your ideas? if so how? if not why?
overall my storyboard was very effective in creating a vague direction on what the film might look like. the storyboard was clear on what should happen in each shot even though the pictures were simplistic. The effectiveness was also shown due to the fact that there was not a huge divergence from it. Many of the shots included in the storyboard were done in the final piece.
one shot that was not used was shot number seven. The reason why this shot was not used was because it was very hard to get right and the final product when we got the shot right didn't actually fit the mood of the film and just didn't work in general. we decided to make the shot more simple and just cut to shot 8 which was changed so the paper dropped next to the other piece of paper.
the criticism in which i received said that i should include the shot type that is intended to be used in every scene as to make it clear what kind of shot it is. i was also criticized on not including the intended time in which the shot should go on for. both of these i fixed.
overall the storyboard is a very useful technique and is very useful in developing ideas because it means you can truly visualise how the film is going to progress and once it is drawn out you can see if that shot will actually work which you can sometimes tell just from the drawing.
