Risk assessments, as annoying as they might be, are necessary to benefit both the employer and the employee. they are used to protect the employee from danger/hazards but it also protects the employer from being sued as they have looked at the potential dangers so anything that happens is not of the fault of the employer.

The two films, even though they used the same directions, the result was very different. one shot which was distinctly different between the two was the introduction of the second youth otherwise seen as the villain of the short film. In JGL's (Joseph gordon Levitt's) short film the villain is introduced first with the sound of steps and then a shot in which the villain is walking through a dark hallway. There is no music and no added effects other than the sound of footsteps creating a build up of tension and a sinister atmosphere as the villain gets closer. The shot we decided to use was a shot in which i block the view of the camera and as i move away the villain is shown as if appearing there by magic. although both shots are different the final effect/meaning is the same making the villain seem sinister and evil. There is another shot in which is different which is the shot that shows the threat of the villain. In JGL's short film there is a shot of just the hand which has a knife in it and JGL in the background. In JGL's short film the use of this camera shot being a mid shot is good at showing both the knife and JGL's reaction. Also the fact that both the knife and JGL is in the shot shows both the threat of the villain and the intended victim of the attacker. This shot differs from our short film due to in our short film we have a close up shot of fins hand going from unclenched to clenched. Even though the shot differed the purpose remained the same between the two films because they both show the threat and they also show how the villain intends to harm the main character. the purpose was brought across with the fact that the shot was a close up, showing the importance of the fact that the fist was clenched showing the audience the violent intentions the villain has. one shot which is used in both short films is a handheld over the shoulder shot for when the protagonist is reading the note that says a time and a location to a close up shot of the note. this shot worked so well because the over the shoulder shot makes the audience feel more involved as they are seeing essentially what the character is seeing from their perspective. it also adds realism to the shot because the audience share the same view as the character. The close up was extremely important for this scene because it shows the importance of the note by showing it to the audience a close up making the note the only thing for the audience to focus on.
This task we were set involved telling a story using pictures taken by us. we decided to tell the story of a drug deal. this task was useful as it showed me the importance of camera position and how that links with the clarity of the story being told. It also showed me how each shot has to be well thought out when shooting a film and there has to be some kind of purpose to the shot and a legitimate reason for why that shot was chosen for that scene.
