Idea 1 - The man/woman and the apocalypse.
Synopsis
Its the story of a man or woman living in an apocalypse of some kind that involves some form of enemy that has changed the world as we know it and has made it about survival. The story will be set in one room which is the main characters base of operation and there will be very little speaking aloud. The story will follow the life of the characters survival when they are not out scavenging and going through dangerous situation. I want there to be a slow development of the character through what they do and how they act but i also want to portray what loneliness can do to someone. As the story goes on more and more information is revealed about the character about their past and how they got to where they are now.
Form: Short film (10-20 minutes)
Theme/s: Loneliness , Hope
Influences: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtKMEAXyPkg
Unique selling point: Set only in one room. Shows the behind the scenes to someone surviving an apocalypse.
Target audience: 16 - 25, Male, middle to lower class. - relatable in the sense that these people will put themselves in the characters shoes and see what it is like to lose everything that we take for granted. The target audience are interested in action or apocalypse related movies but also appreciate slower passed and more art house films. They are an artistic type and would consider themselves as creative with their ideas and hobbies e.g. painting or filmmakers.
Viability: One actor is needed. The location would be a rundown building potentially a vacant and rundown building - This might mean contacting the owner of an abandoned building to as for permission to film there. Props would include a large backpack and various food cans. Also a picture frame to have a picture of someone that meant something to the character and potentially some kind of fire making abilities. Wood panels may also be needed to block up a window. tools like a hammer, screwdriver and or pen knife to be used to open cans and interact with the surrounding. I would only want a small crew or potentially even no crew. I would consider manning the camera myself and lighting would be minimal. The room will be rundown and dark so a box light might be needed but interesting shots could also be made by the natural lighting bleeding in from the windows.
Issues: I believe the location will be the biggest problem as setting it up and making it a believable setting that could be found in an apocalyptic setting could be difficult. Also getting all the props may be difficult because of the cost, buying canned food, a flint and steel, a survival backpack might be difficult. some of these things i have but others i might have to find or buy myself which means i will have to consider my budget which wont be very large.

'Betobeto san' is the spirit that follows people at night making the sound of footsteps behind them.
