A video editor brings together sound and pictures to produce a final piece which is as the director envisioned it. The job demands you to be able to work independently and have a drive and have the motivation to begin work. thus organisation is something that a video editor needs whether it is time organisation skills (which is particularly important) or a physical organisation (which is useful but not necessarily vital). communication is something that is also needed in this job because the editor and the director must have a close knit understanding on what the outcome of the film should be. Some of the skills needed are: Video Editor | Sound designerA sound designer creates sound for a film. this could be for explosions or it could be sound effects that are more subtle and are used to created moods. the job will need someone with good listening skills. this is arguably one of the most important qualities that someone would need to do this job as the job is based on sound. the job also needs a strong understanding between the director and the sound designer or otherwise the films sound development might not be how the director wants it to sound like in the final piece. Some of the skills needed are: -Have a genuine enthusiasm for sound and film -Have a good understanding of acoustics -Have an expert knowledge of sound recording and editing techniques -Have creativity and imagination -Be able to work conceptually -Have excellent communication skills -Be able to work under pressure to tight, changing deadlines -Have good organisational and financial skills -Understand the relevant health and safety laws and procedures Will i fit the role? i think personally i would be more fit for video editing because i have more knowledge and experience in that field but being a sound designer would be something that i would consider as it sounds like an interesting way to view a films production from the sound aspect instead of the visual aspect most people think about when watching a film. |
