For me the representation blog was the most interesting but the most helpful blog was the narrative blog and then the genre blog was definitely the least helpful blog.
The representation blog was definitely the most interesting blog compared to the other blogs as it showed me how many of the fins today have an undertone of sexism whether they meant to or not. Very few hollywood films avoid using the male gaze and a surprising amount of films do not pass the Bechtel test. This opened my eyes as to the lack of female roles in film and how, if i have a film making career, i will definitely include more female leading roles in my films. It also showed me how, even in a film i would class as portraying the female roles as strong (as they should be) that not all films are free of this subconscious act that could be seen by some people as sexist.
The reason this was most interesting was because it showed me, in films i had already seen, things that would have gone unnoticed by me if i had not done this blog. The Bechtel test is something i will hold up to every film i see in the future and see if the film passes.
Compared with the narrative blog it was more interesting but the narrative blog will defiantly be the most helpful in terms of future films that i will make. It showed me how all films usually have one link which is Vladimir props character roles. This will help me in thinking up characters for short film ideas which is what will have the biggest impact on the process of film making/story writing/script writing. It also showed me that not all films have to have all of these character roles and some films purposely mess with these character roles to make the film interesting and throw off the audience. I learned that now days in films the role of a princess isn't always met because of changing ideals and views. Doing this vlog also taught me how linearity and non linear story telling. I learned that most films follow a linear story line but other films purposefully follow a non linear story line to make the film interesting and different from the norm. overall compared to the other blogs this vlog will impact my future short films the most.
The genre blog was the least useful not because the idea of it wasn't interesting it is just in my choice of film it doesn't really try to stretch to other genres and pretty much stays with the same genre the whole time which is Sci-fi. This blog was helpful in terms of showing me that genre is something that isn't necissarily set in stone and that genres can be quite vague and not fit all films but overall this will not effect my future film techniques as much as the other blogs will.
